SYSTEM AND PROCESS TO ENSURE PERFORMANCE OF MANDATED SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE INSPECTIONS

A method is described for providing a record that inspection of components was performed. The method comprises: affixing tokens in locations adjacent to the components; providing a portable device for recording data related to the inspection, the device including a sensor that detects each installed token; enabling an operator to move the device proximate to the token; and, in response to the sensor detecting each token, automatically: prompting the operator to select one of three states of a component, wherein the states are: the component is safe and doesn't need service; the component is safe and needs service; and the component isn't safe and needs service; and if an indication is received that the component is safe and needs service, then: displaying conditions specific to the component; prompting the operator to select one condition; and producing a record of the condition providing evidence that the operator inspected the component.
