The inventions relate to medicine and medical technology, and particularly to the monitoring of blood glucose levels by measuring, using a calorimetric method, the thermal effect and metabolic rate of a local area of living tissue. A value is computed as follows for the thermal metabolism at the local area of living tissue, or for the metabolic intensity at the local area of living tissue: applying a heatproof and waterproof applicator onto the surface of the skin with a dosed pressure, forming a closed system in the local area of tissue under the applicator; measuring the temporal dynamics of the physiological parameters of the local area of tissue under the applicator.
