The present disclosure relates to a method and a system for controlling fast forward/rewind of a player. The method comprises: acquiring and storing, in advance, data of an audio/video file that is currently played back; during the playback of the audio/video file, acquiring, in real time, the current playback position of the audio/video file, and acquiring and determining an operation of a user; if it is determined that the operation of the user is a fast forward operation, positioning the playback position to a middle position between the current playback position and the playback ending position of the audio/video file; and if it is determined that the operation of the user is a rewind operation, positioning the playback position to a middle position between the playback beginning position of the audio/video file and the current playback position.
