An automatic looping escalator step structure having variable curvature is suitable for a continuous transport system capable of carrying people and changing inclination and direction in complex underground passageways, steep streets, and special buildings. The step structure comprises a step plate (1). Two main vertical columns (2) and two auxiliary vertical columns (14) are fixed below each step plate (1) and in parallel to each other. Two main horizontal beams (16), two T-beams, and two auxiliary horizontal beams (12) are symmetrically and fixedly connected between the main vertical columns (2) and the auxiliary vertical columns (14), and from top to bottom. A support frame (4) and a beam (9) are fixedly connected between the two main vertical columns (2) and from top to the bottom. By incorporation of preceding and succeeding step plates (1) of a plurality of steps and incorporation of a middle column (18) and a shaft cover, up-down and rotational movements of the steps are implemented. Inner and outer wheels (13, 7) are disposed at inner and outer guiding tracks (21, 20) at different heights to keep the step plate (1) at a constant level. A gear rack (11) is driven to move the step on the guiding tracks. The embodiment is simple in structure, and reliable in operation, satisfying the requirements of changing curvature of escalator tracks, having high adaptability, overcoming the disadvantages of only carrying people in a half trip of a conventional automatic escalator, and increasing a space utilization rate.
