[Problem] To realize a higher strength and a higher extension/retraction rate with a simpler structure. [Solution] Provided is an extension/retraction mechanism that is provided with: at least three extension/retraction members that are structured by ends of a plurality of link members being sequentially connected to each other in a rotatable manner and that are capable of performing extension/retraction operations in a predetermined extension/retraction direction by adjusting angles formed by the link members connected to each other; and a plurality of connection members that are arranged along the extension/retraction direction in a space surrounded by the at least three extension/retraction members that are disposed in a state where the extension/retraction directions are substantially the same so as to connect the at least three extension/retraction members to each other, wherein the plurality of connection members pivotally support, with respect to the connection members, the respective link members of the at least three extension/retraction members located in a direction orthogonal to the extension/retraction direction as viewed from the connection members such that the link members are rotatable.
