The present invention relates to a method for producing benzoic acid by selectively oxidizing acetophenone in the presence of an acetic acid solvent and a manganese salt catalyst, can produce benzoic acid in a high yield through an economical method by using an acetophenone mixture containing by-products, such as dipropylene glycol or tripropylene glycol, to be generated during processing, and, afterwards, can further efficiently produce benzoic acid by recycling a part of the produced benzoic acid.
