The present invention relates to a method of producing benzoic acid by the selective oxidation of acetophenone under the presence of an acetic acid solvent and a manganese salt catalyst, wherein high yield benzoic acid can be produced by an economical method using an acetophenone mixture in which a byproduct such as dipropylene glycol or tripropylene glycol generated in the process is mixed, and benzoic acid can be produced more efficiently by partially recycling the benzoic acid produced.
