The invention relates to the field of smart phones. Provided are a method for collecting statistics relating to usage of text message sorting technology, and a mobile phone. The method comprises: storing three text message tags indicating a personal category, a service category and a marketing category respectively, and storing features of the respective tags corresponding to phone numbers sending text messages; monitoring whether a mobile phone receives a text message; if the mobile phone does not receive a text message, taking no action; if the mobile phone receives a text message, determining whether the text message belongs to the marketing category; if the text message does not belong to the marketing category, sounding a ringtone to notify a user of reception of a new text message, and displaying, to the user, the tag of the category to which the text message belongs and the content of the text message; and if the text message belongs to the marketing category, displaying, in a text message box, the text message as a marketing category text message, and transmitting technology usage data to a data collection terminal preset by a manufacturer. The invention sets, for different categories of text messages, different notification methods and corresponding notification levels, thereby saving time and energy of a user, and enabling a manufacturer to timely and effectively acquire data relating to usage of the technology.
