A method for deactivating brightness adjustment technology based on market feedback, and a television. The method comprises: recording the brightness of a television that matchinges a human face; when the television is turned on, detecting a human face; setting the brightness of the television according to the human face; reading a usage scenario of the technique by other users through cloud data; and when the number of users turning off the technology exceeds a specified threshold value, stopping setting the brightness of the television according to the human face. By pre-setting a matching relationship between a human face and the brightness of a television, automatically recognising a user watching the television, and adjusting the brightness according to different users, whereby the television may perform self-adjustment according to different users, the user's vision is protected, and the application of the technology can also be terminated when most users deactivate the technology.
