The invention relates to a bypass valve for an exhaust-gas turbocharger, which has a valve flap seat (51) formed at one end of a bypass duct (15) and a valve flap (55), wherein the valve flap (55) has, on the outer edge of the closing face (56) of the valve flap, a flap skirt (57) which, when the bypass valve is closed, starting from the closing face (56), extends predominantly in the direction of the valve seat axis (53) over the valve flap seat (51) and at least over part of the valve flap outer circumference (59), such that the flap skirt (57) at least partly encompasses the valve seat outer circumference (54a) of the valve flap seat (51) and engages over the same by the skirt height (58) in an overlap region.
