The present invention relates to the field of network games, and provides a method for automatically prompting to purchase gaming equipment and a prompting system. The method comprises: recording equipment purchasing orders and prices of equipment of game characters; when a user is playing a game, monitoring an amount of money held by a game character; and when the amount of money held by the game character reaches a price of equipment ranked first in an equipment purchasing order, prompting the user to purchase the equipment. By prerecording an equipment purchasing order and prices of a game character and automatically prompting a user to purchase equipment during gaming, the present invention lowers the game learning difficulty, allows quick start of a new player, and simultaneously ensures the game fluency.
