The present invention relates to a method for supporting decision-making for issuing warnings and selecting mitigation actions configured by transforming meteorological and/or climate information into a single decision index. A method for supporting decision-making using the global meteorological (IDM) or climate decision index (IDC) that is based on user preferences in relation to three characteristics of the meteorological-climate information: (a) value of the meteorological-climate variable, (b) probability of occurrence, and (c) period of validity of the meteorological-climate information has been developed. The present invention was originally developed for use in the field of aerospace meteorology, and specifically rocket-launching operations at space stations. However, the decision-making process relating to meteorological uncertainty is relevant to other applications in which meteorological or climate conditions can have some impact on the activities.
