TOPSIDE AND JACKET ARRANGEMENT FOR AN OFFSHORE PLATFORM

A topside (48) and jacket (46) arrangement for a platform of an oil and gas installation includes a jacket (46) and a topside (48). The jacket (46) has a shape in plan view with corners at columns (114) of the jacket (46). The topside (48) has multiple decks (106), (108), (110), (112) of similar orientation to each other. The topside decks (106), (108), (110), (112) have corners out of alignment with the corners of the jacket (46) such that the corners of the decks (106), (108), ((110), 112) extend horizontally outward beyond the extent of the jacket (46) between corners of the jacket (46) and the orientation of the topside (48) is hence twisted relative to the orientation of the jacket (46). The maximum horizontal dimensions of the jacket (46) where it joins to the topside (48) are such that the jacket (46) sits entirely within and beneath the horizontal cross- section of the decks (106), (108), (110), (112). The topside (48) and jacket (46) arrangement has no heli-deck and one or more laydown area(s) (128), (130), (134), (140) are provided in locations that are accessible via a platform crane (132) that is on an outward extending corner of one or more of the decks (112).
