Topside and jacket arrangement for an offshore platform

A topside 48 and jacket 46 arrangement for a platform of an oil and gas installation. The jacket has a shape in plan view with corners at columns 114 of the jacket. The topside has multiple decks (fig. 4, 106, 108, 110, 112) of similar orientation to each other. The topside decks have corners out of alignment with the corners of the jacket such that the corners of the decks extend horizontally outward beyond the extent of the jacket, between corners of the jacket. The orientation of the topside is hence twisted relative to the orientation of the jacket. The maximum horizontal dimensions of the jacket where it joins to the topside are such that the jacket sits entirely within and beneath the horizontal cross-section of the decks. The topside and jacket arrangement has no heli-deck and one or more laydown areas are provided that are accessible via a platform crane 132 that is on an outward extending corner of one or more of the decks (fig. 4, 112).
