A laser measurement system for detecting geometric errors in the six degrees of freedom of a rotating shaft (6) and a method therefor. The system comprises: a laser transmission unit (1), a six-degree-of-freedom error measuring unit (2), a six-degree-of-freedom error sensing unit (3) and a servo tracking unit (4) which may be mounted on the rotating shaft (6) to be tested. The six-degree-of-freedom error measuring unit (2) emits light to the six-degree-of-freedom error sensing unit (3), and generates a measurement signal on the basis of the emergent light, as well as a reflected light and a retro reflective light from the six-degree-of-freedom error sensing unit (3). The servo tracking unit (4) comprises: a four-dimensional adjusting mechanism so as to achieve four-dimensional adjustment; a motor (405), which is fixedly mounted on the four-dimensional adjusting mechanism; an angle measuring sensor (403) for measuring a rotation angle of the motor (405); a mounting surface (406), which is fixed on the four-dimensional adjusting mechanism, which rotates coaxially with the motor (405) and on which the six-degree-of-freedom error sensing unit (3) is installed; and a control circuit, for controlling the servo tracking unit (4) on the basis of the measurement signal from the six-degree-of-freedom error measuring unit (2). The laser measurement system enables simultaneous and rapid measurement of geometric errors in the six degrees of freedom of a rotating shaft.
