Disclosed are an early predictive marker of gestational diabetes mellitus and a detection method therefor, wherein the marker is a serum differential protein, including 33 proteins, such as adipose plasma membrane-associated proteins, antithrombin-III, apolipoprotein A5 and apolipoprotein E. The detection of the concentration change of the serum differential protein is carried out using the high-throughput proteomic method, the enzyme-linked immunoassay technique, or one or more of the protein chip techniques, and then predicting, by the 12th-16th weeks of the pregnancy, whether the subject to be detected will have gestational diabetes mellitus at the 24th-28th weeks of the pregnancy. The marker has a high predictive accuracy, and the detection method is simple to operate and can help potential patients with gestational diabetes mellitus get an early diagnosis and avoid the adverse effects of the disease on the health of the patients and the foetuses thereof.
