The invention relates to a method for press-sintering a steel component (1) from a granulated powder (4), having the following production steps: providing a fine powder (2) which is generated by gas-atomization and which comprises spherical particles made of a highly alloyed steel material, granulating the powder into a coarse powder (4) while adding an organic binder (3), compressing the granulated powder (4) in order to produce a green part (5), the shape of which is maintained solely by the organic binder (3), and sintering the green part (5) in order to produce the steel component (1) as a sintered part, wherein the organic binder (3) escapes from the green part (5) and the connection between the spherical particles is first produced by the sintering process. The invention additionally relates to a steel component produced in this manner.
