Hard steels: materials and design methods of high pressure components under cyclic load in the automotive supplying industry

Hard steels are not only a good choice in respect to wear resistance, but they may also deliver high fatigue resistance. For that purpose, although, a lot of material and component parameters are to be considered and optimized in parallel. This contribution reports results of basic research work on the fatigue resistance and the application in component design.
