The present invention addresses the problem of providing an electromagnetic wave detection device whereby a signal including the phase and amplitude of an electromagnetic wave can be acquired regardless of the frequency of the electromagnetic wave. This electromagnetic wave detection device is provided with: an irradiation unit (RL) for radiating a coherent electromagnetic wave (EL); an electromagnetic wave modulation unit (MP) for modulating the phase and/or the amplitude of the radiated electromagnetic wave, the electromagnetic wave modulation unit (MP) changing a modulation state relative to an imaging object (OB); and a modulated-electromagnetic-wave intensity detection unit (12) for detecting, by a single pixel, the intensity of a modulated electromagnetic wave (SL) that is an electromagnetic wave obtained by modulation of the electromagnetic wave radiated from the irradiation unit (RL) by the imaging object (OB) and the electromagnetic wave modulation unit (MP).
