The present invention falls within the field of biomass energy utilization, and in particular relates to a method for preparing levoglucosenone by means of the catalytic pyrolysis of biomass. The present invention uses a biomass-based phosphoric acid-activated active carbon as a catalyst; by subjecting same to mechanical mixing with the biomass, rapid pyrolysis is performed under inert anaerobic conditions at 250-470°C; and the pyrolysis gas is condensed. Then, a liquid product enriched in levoglucosenone can be obtained. In pyrolysis products obtained by means of the biomass-based phosphoric acid-activated active carbon catalyzing the pyrolysis of the biomass, the yield and purity of levoglucosenone are both quite high. In addition, the mixture of the solid coke produced by the pyrolysis and the catalyst can be used as a carbon source for the continuous preparation of active carbon. By means of using the inexpensive and reusable biomass-based phosphoric acid-activated active carbon, the method can effectively lower the production cost and reduce pollution, and is an economical and effective method for preparing levoglucosenone.
