Disclosed in the present invention are a method, device and database system for use in automatically creating indexes. The method comprises: analyzing a target data table and operation criteria in a data query statement; determining whether analysis of data distribution is required; when determining that data distribution analysis is required, then calculating the distribution status of table data which is in the target data table and which satisfies the operation criteria; when the distribution status of the table data satisfies a preset index creation strategy, creating an index of the target data table by using the operation criteria.
