A control authentication method and a software automation testing method relate to the technical field of software automation testing and are capable of ensuring the accuracy of control setting in the software automation testing process, reducing the cost of manual confirmation and improving the testing efficiency. The method comprises: obtaining a control information list comprising a plurality of pieces of control positioning information, each piece of control positioning information being used for searching the current testing interface of the software for corresponding control and identifying the corresponding control (S1); obtaining one piece of control positioning information from the control information list (S2); obtaining, according to the obtained control positioning information, corresponding target control list from the software carrying out automatic testing (S3); determining whether there is only one control comprised in the target control list or not (S4); if yes, confirming that the control is successfully authenticated; and if not, confirming that the control is not authenticated.
