Provided is a composition for a gas seal member capable of forming a gas seal member for high-pressure hydrogen equipment that can adequately suppress both the occurrence of protrusion rupture and the occurrence of blister rupture. This composition for a gas seal member is used in a high-pressure hydrogen environment. The composition for a gas seal member contains an elastomer and a fibrous carbon nanostructure, and contains the fibrous carbon nanostructure in a proportion of 1-10 mass parts per 100 mass parts of the elastomer. The area ratio S (%) of aggregates of the fibrous carbon nanostructure in the cross-section of the composition for a gas seal member and the volume ratio V (%) of the fibrous carbon nanostructure in the composition for a gas seal member satisfy the relational expression 0 ≤ S/V ≤ 2.0.
