Disclosed is a conference cascading method based on a software media server. The method comprises: receiving a conference request message sent by a conference terminal; forwarding the conference request message to a media processing server MRFP so as to control the MRFP such that same executes an operation of creating and joining a conference according to the conference request message; and after the operation of creating and joining the conference, when it is detected that the conference is created on a plurality of MRFPs, controlling the cascading of the plurality of MRFPs so as to form a media channel.
