A split heat pump air conditioner comprises a controller (10) and an outdoor unit having a compressor (20) and an outdoor heat exchanger (40). The outdoor heat exchanger (40) has a gas flow port (41) communicating, via a four-way valve (30), with a gas outlet (21) or a gas inlet (22) of the compressor (20). A bypass pipeline is further disposed between the gas outlet (21) of the compressor (20) and the gas flow port (41) of the outdoor heat exchanger (40). An electromagnetic valve (60) is disposed on the bypass pipeline. The gas flow port (41) is provided with a gas pressure sensor (50) for detecting gas pressure at the gas flow port (41). The controller (10) receives, in a heating mode, a gas pressure value Ps obtained by the gas pressure sensor (50), and adjusts, according to the gas pressure value Ps obtained by the gas pressure sensor (50), the degree of opening of the electromagnetic valve (60), to adjust the gas pressure at the gas flow port (41) to be greater than or equal to a set pressure value P0. The structure of the invention can effectively delay frosting on air conditioner outdoor units.
