The present invention provides a method and a device for distinguishing data, which can maximize efficiency of a storage tiering technique of a storage server for a service with high human relationship and temporality. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for distinguishing of a storage server comprises the following steps of: storing a new file in the storage server in a three-dimensional structure considering the human relationship and a popularity corresponding to the new file; setting a priority of the new file based on the popularity of the new file; and distinguishing each of the files into hot data and cold data based on the priority of each of the files stored in the storage server.
