The present invention relates to a silicon oxycarbide composite, a preparation method thereof, and a negative electrode material for a sodium secondary battery comprising the same, and more specifically, a silicon oxycarbide composite in which at least one nanoparticle selected from antimony, germanium, selenium, and gallium is supported on silicon oxycarbide is prepared, and the silicon oxycarbide composite can be applied as a negative electrode material for a secondary battery which exhibits an excellent inhibition effect on volume expansion generated during a charging/discharging process and excellent electrochemical characteristics.
