An object of the present invention is a removable base 16 designed to receive an X-ray machine 10. The object of the present invention is also an X-ray machine which can be mounted on said mobile base. The X-ray machine of the present invention comprises moving means (52, 36, 37) using a motor-driven system in combination with a navigation system (56, 60, 62). The navigation system of the present invention allows an X-ray machine to automatically and accurately be moved from one position to another within an examination room, a hybrid room, or an operating room 9. The X-ray machine is provided with means (65) for automatic positioning of the moving part around the patient while the area exposed to the radiation is kept within the X-ray beam.
