The present invention relates to a detection system for detecting contamination of soil and groundwater, and more specifically relates to a detection system for detecting contamination of soil and groundwater and a method for detecting pollutants using the detection system, which uses a combination of a saturation zone and an unsaturated zone by using one kind of detection means, resulting in economical reduction and efficiency improvement due to simplification of equipment. In addition, the present invention is able to detect various pollutants and prevent secondary environmental pollution due to atmospheric exposure of harmful gas by enabling conversion of substances of liquid (groundwater or the like) or solid (ice or the like) in the saturation zone and unsaturated zone (underground water) into gas state substances, direct analysis in the ground, and the like. In addition, the present invention is for safe protection and convenience in maintenance of detectors installed underground. The present invention comprises: a buried tube in a saturation zone; a buried tube in an unsaturated zone; a pair of gas detectors; a power supply portion on the ground; a suction pump on the ground; and a console on the ground.
