Disclosed is a method for producing a carbon fiber with improved physical properties by undergoing heat treatment after electron beam irradiation. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for producing the carbon fiber comprises the following steps: a first step for producing a pitch fiber by spinning pitch obtained from petrochemical by-products; a second step for irradiating the pitch fiber produced in the first step with electron beams; a third step for treating the electron beam-irradiated pitch fiber from the second step with heat so as to stabilize the pitch fiber; and a fourth step for producing the carbon fiber by treating the pitch fiber stabilized in the third step with heat.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
