Method of operating a user equipment for a public safety mode and method of wireless communication using the same

A method of operating a user terminal comprises: a step of allowing a user terminal to enter a public safety mode; a step of switching the user terminal into an idle state when entering the public safety mode; a step of temporarily switching the user terminal from the idle state into a partial wakeup state in the public safety mode; and a step of searching for a public safety frequency for device-to-device (D2D) communication between the user terminal and a surrounding user terminal in the partial wakeup state. When entering the public safety mode, the user terminal is switched into the idle state and is temporarily switched into the partial wakeup state to search for the public safety frequency, thereby reducing power consumption of the user terminal in an emergency situation and effectively supporting D2D communication for public safety.
