The present invention relates to a magnetic marker for labeling a site in a tissue in a body. In one embodiment, the markers comprise a magnetic metal glass. In another embodiment, the marker is a non-spherical configuration with an isotropic ratio of less than 9. In another embodiment, the marker is a non-spherical configuration with an anisotropic ratio of less than 6. In another embodiment, the markers are non-spherical configurations with an isotropic ratio of less than three.
