The present invention relates to a system for operating a numerical control (NC) machine, and more specifically, to a system and a method for operating an NC machine by using a text file stored in a portable storage device, wherein G language used for operating the NC machine is recorded as a text in a text file, stored in a portable storage device, and then transferred to the NC machine located at a different place and the content recorded in the text file is converted into a source code, thereby enabling a user to easily operate the NC machine. The system for operating the NC machine by using a text file stored in a portable storage device according to the present invention comprises: a user terminal (110); a text editor (120) for an electronic document operated on the user terminal (110) to make G language inputted as a text; a portable storage device (130) transferring and storing a text file generated by the text editor (120); a code converter (140) disposed in an embedded type to convert codes of G language recorded in the text file stored in the portable storage device (130); and the NC machine (150) operated by a source code obtained by code conversion of the code converter (140).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
