According to the present invention, a method for monitoring damage to a tool of a machine tool includes: calculating an arithmetical cutting load in consideration of information on a tool and a workpiece, a machining path, and a transfer speed; deriving a measurement transfer speed, being actually measured when the workpiece is machined, by inputting the machining path and the transfer speed to a machine tool; calculating a reference cutting load by correcting the arithmetical cutting load through a measurement transfer speed; measuring an actual cutting load being input to the tool while the workpiece is machined through the tool; and determining whether the tool is damaged by comparing the actual cutting load and the reference cutting load.
