A piezoelectric transducer (4) of passive surface wave sensor type (1) converts radio signals received by an antenna (7) into surface interference oscillations which are reflected back to transducer by reflectors (5,6) and a response signal is generated from reflected oscillations. The response signal is changed related to additional surface interference waves generated due to sound derived from movement of machine part, and is sent to an evaluation unit. An Independent claim is also included for a moving machine part wear and breakage monitoring device.
