The present invention relates to a geographic information system (GIS) based tour information system linked with a rent car service in a tourist site, capable of promoting a local economy and a method thereof. According to the present invention, a tourism market (car rental, lodging, and leisure) interlocks a member store, a value-added network (VAN) company server, and a credit card company server through collaboration among a rental car company, a VAN company, and a credit card company to provide a rental car service and tourism and financial infrastructure. A rental car and payment service system provides tourists using a corresponding rental car with a discount service for lodging, restaurant, and parking charges of a hotel/resort/condominium/lodging facility/pension in a tourist site, a discount service for a department store/shopping town/country club/sky resort, and a cooperated card discount service for a traditional restaurant of main tourist sites. By linking a rental car management server providing a tourist site lodging/parking facility discount service with a tourist information system and a GIS server in a mashup type, a rental car service, and a member store discount service are provided in the tourist site, a tour course, and major tourist site, weather, and transfer information are guided on a GIS map to provide convenience to rental car users. Rental car reservation/payment/rent/return services are combined with tourist content and geographic information in the mashup type by linking the rental car management server with the tourist information system and the GIS server to provide a global positioning system (GPS) based tourist guide location-based service (LBS) for a smart device in a tourist site.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
