The present invention relates to an antioxidant or skin-lightening cosmetic composition or food composition, comprising Myocastor coypus bile as an effective component. The Myocastor coypus bile of the present invention contains higher ratios of bile acid components, such as Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA), and 7-keto-lithocholic acid (LCA), compared with gall bladders of bears, and thus can be used as an alternative to bear gall bladders, having comparable effects to the bear gall bladders, and can be purchased more conveniently and inexpensively than the bear gall bladders. In addition, the Myocastor coypus bile of the present invention shows free radical scavenging activity, tyrosinase activity inhibition, and elastase activity inhibition, and thus has antioxidant, anti-aging and skin-lightening effects, and may be beneficially used in the cosmetic or food industries related thereto.
