The present invention relates to a recombinant microorganism capable of producing lycopene, and a method for producing lycopene using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a recombinant microorganism for producing lycopene with improved productivity of lycopene by controlling a gapA expression level. The present invention further relates to a method for producing lycopene using the same. The recombinant microorganism having the reduced expression level of gapA, according to the present invention, ensures remarkably increased productivity of lycopene compared to a parent strain, by directly increasing a G3P pool to produce lycopene, thereby being widely applied in various industrial fields where lycopene is used.
