According to an embodiment of the present invention, a defect diagnosis apparatus using a dissolved gas generation pattern of a transformer capable of clearly diagnosing cause and amount of gas generation comprises: a dissolved gas collecting portion for collecting a dissolved gas in oil generated in a transformer; a gas pattern analyzing portion for comparing a gas pattern of the collected dissolved gas in oil with a previously stored plurality of gas patterns to select a gas pattern the most similar to the gas pattern of the dissolved gas in oil in the plurality of gas patterns; and a state diagnostic portion for diagnosing a state of the transformer according to the selected gas pattern using a defect form probability table according to the previously stored gas pattern.
