The present invention relates to an induction solute for forward osmosis containing a compound exhibiting temperature responsiveness and ionicity, and a desalination method using the same. The induction solute for forward osmosis of the present invention can create high concentration and high osmotic pressure and is able to conduct desalination of high concentration raw water efficiently. In addition, the induction solute for forward osmosis can be separated, collected, and recycled from induction solutions via simple and easy processes after the forward osmosis. Further, the induction solute for forward osmosis can minimize outflow through semipermeable membranes compared to existing induction solutes.
