The present invention relates to a shock absorber of a vehicle steering system in which a steering column is pushed inward to absorb an impact and support the head of a driver accurately, thereby minimizing injuries on the driver. The shock absorber of a vehicle steering system includes: a steering wheel for transferring a left and right rotating operation force to a steering gear through a steering shaft; a steering column for supporting the steering shaft passing through a center by using a column tube; a column mounting part integrally coupled to an upper surface of the steering column, and fastened to a fastening hole tapped thereon so that an over molding bolt protrudes at a predetermined height; and a column mounting bracket attached to a cowl cross member such that a center can be disposed on the column mounting part, allowing the column mounting part to be mounted thereon, and having an elongated slot at the center thereof so that the over molding bolt of the column mounting part moves backward upon vehicle collision.
