The present invention relates to a system for controlling the thickness of a paint film, and more particularly, to a system and method for controlling the thickness of a paint film, capable of controlling the thickness of the paint film by measuring the thickness of the paint film painted on a vehicle through a terahertz wave. To this end, the system for controlling the thickness of a paint film according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a measuring device for measuring the thickness of a paint film layer including an electrodeposition layer, a middle layer, an upper layer, and a coating layer; and a control device for generating thickness information of the paint film using measurement information received from the measuring device, determining whether or not each of the coating layer, the upper layer, the middle layer, and the electrodeposition layer has an error if the thickness of the paint film is not within a set range, and controlling the spraying amount of paint based on a determination result. Accordingly, the present invention can save a measurement time and accurately measure the thickness of the paint film.
