The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cathode electrode with improved mass transfer characteristics and a cathode electrode manufactured thereby. More specifically, before ionomers, which limit oxygen delivery, coat the surface of a metal catalyst, a hydrophobic thiol group-containing alkane compound coats and removes the surface of the metal catalyst and thereby prevents the ionomers from coating the surface of platinum and inhibiting oxygen delivery, and consequently enables the ionomer to perform its primary role, which is to deliver hydrogen ions, and thus enhances delivery of two masses at the same time, and thus improves the performances of a fuel at high current density.
