The present invention provides a method for producing Schwann cell precursors from pluripotent stem cells, and a method for producing Schwann cells from the Schwann cell precursors prepared thereby. In addition, the present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition and a cell therapeutic agent for preventing or treating neurological disorders, comprising the Schwann cell precursors and Schwann cells; methods for producing the same; a composition for inducing direct differentiation of pluripotent stem cells to Schwann cells; and a composition for differentiating Schwann cell precursors to Schwann cells. In addition, the present invention provides Schwann cell precursors or Schwann cells produced by the methods; and a screening kit comprising the same. By using the method of the present invention for producing Schwann cell precursors from pluripotent stem cells, Schwann cell precursors can be produced in a rapid and efficient manner. In addition, the Schwann cells produced from the Schwann cell precursors are capable of forming myelin and secreting neurotrophic factors, and thus may be used in the prevention or treatment of neurological disorders.
