A zinc ion secondary battery is provided. The zinc ion secondary battery includes an anode containing VO_2(B) particles as an electrode active material. The VO_2(B) particles are composed of VO_6 octahedrons and the VO_6 octahedrons share corners or edges to form a tunnel. A cathode containing a negative active material into which zinc ions can be inserted is disposed. An electrolyte is disposed between the anode and the cathode. The present invention provides a new electrode active material which is rich in resources compared to lithium, environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and low in risk of pollution by moisture.
