The present invention relates to a method for detecting cesium ions. Based on the principle that fluorescence intensity changes due to energy transfer between polymer nanoparticles and graphene oxide, cesium ions bind to a tetraethylene glycol side chain of a conjugated polymer, and the conjugated polymer is released from the surface of a graphene oxide, thereby restoring fluorescence of the conjugated polymer. The detection of cesium ions also confirms that the length and type of the side chain of the conjugated polymer greatly affect the sensitivity and selectivity.
