The present invention relates to a method for preparing octahedral PtNi nanoparticles (UPD-PtNi) and optimized membrane electrode assemblies deposited with a Pt-thin film. In the present invention, a new electrochemical catalyst having improved durability was produced by depositing a platinum molecular layer on platinum-transition metal alloy nanoparticles. By optimizing the membrane electrode assembly, performance of an electrode was improved as well as a half cell. Unlike a conventional core-shell nanoparticles of platinum-noble metal, the PtNi nanoparticles of the present invention are composed of the platinum-transition metal, thereby saving manufacturing cost. It is possible to mass-produce the polymer electrolyte membrane, and the problem of the conventional membrane electrode assembly manufacturing method can be solved through the membrane electrode assembly having a conductive polymer.
