The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for asset management of power transformers which simultaneously maximize physical performance and economic values of power transformers. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for asset management of power transformers comprises: a full-cycle database to manage full-cycle data of power transformers; a physical performance evaluation unit to perform physical performance evaluation to analyze life information, fault rates, and operation histories of the power transformers and state information of a prevention diagnosis system from the full-cycle data to calculate a soundness index by weight assignment; a risk evaluation unit to use results of the physical performance evaluation to perform risk evaluation by risk matrix generation; an economic efficiency evaluation unit to evaluate expenses over the full cycles of the power transformers to perform economic efficiency evaluation; and an asset management unit to use the physical performance evaluation results, results of the risk evaluation, and results of the economic efficiency evaluation to determine maintenance and repair priorities of the power transformers to establish an investment plan for replacement of the power transformers.
