The present invention relates to an auto-mapping apparatus and an auto-mapping method for a surface defect of a wire rod, automatically mapping a position where a surface defect occurs in the wire rod. The present invention comprises: a cold forging unit removing surface roughness of a wire rod through a skin pass forming process; a detection unit detecting a surface defect of the wire rod where the surface roughness is removed; an encoder measuring the length of the wire rod; and a control unit mapping the length of the wire rod measured by the encoder and a position of a surface defect of the wire rod detected by the detection unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
