The present invention relates to a lactic acid bacteria fermented product of Sagunjatang (Korean medicine of four different herbs) having a protective activity for cranial nerve cells and uses thereof, and more particularly, to a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food composition for preventing or treating cranial nerve diseases including a lactic acid bacteria fermented product of an extract of Panax ginseng, Atractylodes japonica, Poria coco, and Glycyrrhiza glabra, and a preventing or treating method. Since the extract including Panax ginseng, Atractylodes japonica, Poria coco, and Glycyrrhiza glabra, that is, a lactic acid bacteria fermented product of Sagunjatang in which Sagunjatang is fermented with Lactobacillus plantarum, shows excellent protective effect for cranial nerve cells, and thus can be usefully used for preventing or treating cranial nerve diseases.
